Normally when blogging I blog more as an individual than as my company Radiant Think.  But in recent times the company focus is moving to the training aspects of SAP Variant Configuration and largely in the "downunder" part of the world in Australia and New Zealand.

But one thing we are starting up that can be shared by anyone is a monthly newsletter called Learn Variant Configuration.

Hi all, 

Many of the contributors and members of the CWG are experienced VC users or maintainers.  However we have a lot of members who have joined because they need to know more.  In fact we all want to know more.  One of the challenges someone new has to deal with is the SAP Help for VC.  For someone new I dont think it is that helpful as although most of the information is there it is not really well organised and lacks a focus on good design practices.

More recently we have been lucky to have "Variant Configuration with SAP" written by Uwe Blumor

I was listening to a Podcast about Russell Ackoff who was one of the original pioneers of Operations Research and had some interesting ideas on how business works.  If you look at Operations Research it is about optimising the parts - using stopwatches, algorithms etc.  But as time went on he saw things with a more big picture view.

Have you ever had to teach someone VC?  It can be really difficult, and pointing them to SAP Help often scares them.  Here are some tutorials you may want to use to make the process a little easier.

They cover Constraints, Variant Tables, Class items, Setting BOM Quantities, and designing the Interface tabs.
