Coffee Houses and Pastry Shops

• From Michaelerplatz, head to the left up Schauflergasse. On your right after a few steps, you will find the Cafe Griensteidl, one of many traditional Viennese coffee houses.
  You can sit there for hours, ordering an occasional coffee - there are dozen or more variations - while reading your newspaper or working on your laptop. What makes the Griensteidl special is that it is completely non-smoking.
• You can cater to your sweet tooth at a Konditorei (Pastry Shop), for example: from Michaelerplatz continue straight ahead down Kohlmarkt.
  On the left side of the street you will find Demel, which, a century ago, was a supplier of pastries to the Imperial Court.
• There are many, many more Cafes and Konditoreien. Just keep your eyes open.
