The recent CWG conference was held in Marco Island, Florida, USA from October 16th-18th. It was the biggest US conference ever with 123 registered attendees, about 2/3 of them coming from SAP customers. About half of the Attendees attended a CWG conference for the first time. This year’s conference motto was “The business of product configuration” indicating a gradual shift from technical topics to experiences and challenges around the business process involving configurable products.
For the first time the European CWG Conference was not held in Walldorf close to the SAP Labs but in beautiful Salzburg. This allowed all attendess to stay at the same conference hotel and provide for even more networking and knowledge exchange opportunities for european CWG members.
The Fall 2005 CWG Conference was held in a new location – Marco Island, Florida from October 31st thru Nov 2nd. As was evidenced by the 50% increase in attendance over last Fall’s conference, we believe that the location and the 3-day program format proved to be a winning combination. Early concerns about poor SAP attendance due to a conference location far from an SAP office were quickly dispelled as many SAP employees began signing up in earnest. We were even privileged to have SAP Development Vice-President Bernhard Neumann in attendance. Out of 92 attendees, 16% were SAP, 29% were SAP Partners, and 55% were Customers!

This May CWG meeting had 141/118 registrants/attendees of which 74 where customer employees, 44 were partners or independents and 23 from SAP.

The meeting motto was "Welcome to the New CWG" and was referring to the fact that the CWG wants to more aggressively grow and position itself. One measure to accomplish this is the focus on the needs of the majority of it's members who focus on standard scenarios based on R/3. The CWG is also incorporating as a "eingetragener Verein" in Germany to support its growth.
