Lower level VC products in a material variant

Hello,

I am not using the advanced configurator in the S4 system at this time but we are using the LO/VC product configurator. The issue I am having is the selection values are not passing from the material variant to the lower level VC products. I have this working in our ECC version which was not easy but it does work by installing the CCUXMVAR multistep Configuration with material variant user exit. We have installed this user exit but it is still not passing the values from the material variant to the children VC products. Has anyone got this to work and if you have how did you do this?
